THE TERRANCE W. SCHWAB FUND FOR YOUNG VOCAL ARTISTS
Created in memory of former Caramoor Trustee Terrance W. Schwab by his family, the fund is designed to nurture and support the artistic development and careers of young vocalists at Caramoor. The Terrance W. Schwab Fund allows Caramoor to offer emerging singers career development opportunities, including public performances, coaching, and collaboration with instrumentalists, composers and poets. Artists who benefit from the Schwab Fund are at the start of their careers and in general below the age of 30, but exceptions may be made, based on extraordinary merit.

New contributions to the Terrance W. Schwab Fund for Young Vocal Artists will be matched up to $100,000, through a challenge recently issued by a generous anonymous donor.

Please consider a gift to support this match. To make a contribution to the Terrance W. Schwab Fund for Young Vocal Artists, donate online via our secure server or
call Gary Himes, Director of Development, at 914.232.5035 ext. 235

About the Vocal Rising Stars

About the Vocal Rising Stars
The success of Caramoor's Rising Stars mentoring program has inspired a new initiative known as the Vocal Rising Stars. This initiative, launched as a pilot program in spring 2008, focuses on singing outside the realm of opera, including the song recital and vocal chamber music. Singers at the beginning professional level are invited to Caramoor for a weeklong residency that offers intensive daily coaching, rehearsals, and workshops with mentors. Last year's residency culminated in a stupendous performance of Songs of the Irish Poets at Caramoor, which was repeated to tremendous enthusiasm three days later at Merkin Hall in New York City. The pilot program was a collaboration with the New York Festival of Song (NYFOS).

The identification and development of young musical talent has long been central to Caramoor's mission. This mentoring program, Vocal Rising Stars, has a specialized focus on providing singers with an opportunity to form collaborative partnerships with one another, the Caramoor staff, and the coach/accompanists who also participate in the residency program. At Caramoor, we believe that the work leading up to a performance is of equal if not greater importance than the concert itself and will have a lasting impact on the growth and development of young artists. This year's Vocal Rising Stars program was underwritten through the generosity of the Terrance W. Schwab Fund for Young Vocal Artists.

From the fathers of French mélodie to its 20th century innovators, The Sweetest Path traces the development of the most poetic, lush, and luminescent vocal traditions.

The Vocal Rising Stars program is supported in part by the Terrance W. Schwab Fund for Young Vocal Artists.
