 | T-SHIRT DESIGN COMPETITION Congratulations to the winner's of this year's T-Shirt Design Competition! T-Shirts are now on sale at Suburban Groove in Katonah! Stop by and pick one up today. | First Place Winner Lisa Gusman, age 14 John Jay High School
| | | | Front | Back | Lisa Gusman, a freshman at John Jay High School, lives with her family in South Salem, New York. From an early age, she has maintained an active interest in art, and would like to pursue a career in that field. Her other interests include violin, guitar, and Kempo Karate. She speaks fluent Italian, and spends her summers with her family in the Italian Alps. Lisa’s design was inspired by the natural surroundings of the Caramoor Center, and the beauty of the violin itself. | Second Place Winner Kristina Dittrich, age 15 Fox Lane High School | | | | | | | Front | Back | Kristina Dittrich is 15 years old and a sophomore at Fox Lane High School in Bedford. She loves to draw and paint and admires all forms and works of art. Kristina also enjoys music on a grand scale, whether it be listening or playing. Art has been a significant element of her life and she hopes to one-day work in the design firm, interior, graphic, or fashion. The idea of her design came from a recent visit to the Caramoor grounds where she found the Corinthian style columns and architecture very inspiring.
| Third Place Winner Laura Zuk, age 16 John Jay High School | Laura Zuk is a 16-year-old art enthusiast, to say the least. Beginning at the ever-young age of "when-she-could-get-paint -on-her-hands", Laura has never ceased to create and marvel at the works of others. When she doesn't spend her days sketching away with anything that makes a mark (or at school), she loves to listen to all sorts of music (including that which is played at Caramoor) and, if the weather allows it, ski. |
| | | | This page is dedicated to YOU, a practicing musician. Here at Caramoor, education has always been a priority. That's why we developed a Student Strings program to help kids like you get even better with the help of our resident string quartet. Meet the Linden String Quartet, this year's string quartet-in-residence. Every year, Caramoor's Ernst Stiefel Quartet-in-Residence travels to Middle and High Schools to work with students. The quartet members host clinics and give performances to help students improve their skills. | | | | | The student strings program has sessions in both the fall and spring semesters. Participants in our student strings program also receive discounts to concerts in our Caramoor Classics Series— Students' tickets are free and parents' tickets are half price! Here are the concert dates: Saturday, March 24th at 8:00pm ~ Linden String Quartet | | | Download a printable information card about the Student Strings program.
