Caramoor Family Fare Nurtures a Lifelong Love of Music

Designed to create exciting, enriching experiences for the whole family, Caramoor's family music program aims to deepen a child's knowledge of and passion for music by presenting high quality concerts in a unique, arts-rich setting. Caramoor's concerts are created with the help of educators to promote active listening among young audiences and foster a lifelong love of music. By taking advantage of our beautiful country setting and inspiring venues, we create memorable musical experiences for the whole family. Since our founding in 1946 Caramoor has always strived to make music more accessible to the community. Our family programs present music that will appeal to toddlers, teens, and everyone in between and beyond.

Michael Barrett, Caramoor's former chief executive and general director, oversaw all artistic programming, creating family concerts that engage as much as they entertain. "Today, when so much of our entertainment is on a screen, Caramoor's concerts offer an appealing alternative," Mr. Barrett says. "At Caramoor children get to see musicians in action. After the concert they can handle the instruments and talk to the musicians. During the concert they can move around, and experience a sense of freedom, happiness, and joy!"

In keeping with our mission to engage young children to deepen their relationship to, and understanding of music, Caramoor's family concerts are designed specifically for young children and their parents. "Caramoor has always been a special place for the entire family," says Mr. Barrett. "We aim to make music accessible right here in your own backyard."
