CARAMOOR INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL presents TRIO SOLISTI in a program of Ravel, Piazzolla, and Mussorgsky Thursday, July 3, 7:30pm

Katonah, New York - Week three of the seven-week 2008 Caramoor International Music Festival begins on Thursday, July 3 at 7:30pm in the Spanish Courtyard with Trio Solisti. These three brilliant instrumentalists - Maria Bachmann, violin; Alexis Pia Gerlach, cello; and Jon Klibonoff, piano - present a delightfully diverse program featuring their own monumental arrangement of Modest Mussorgsky's classic Pictures at an Exhibition as well as Maurice Ravel's masterpiece, Trio in A minor, and Astor Piazzolla's tango-inflected Four Seasons of Buenos Aires.
Reviewing a recent Trio Solisti performance during which they performed the works by Mussorgsky and Ravel, Terry Teachout of the Wall Street Journal wrote,"...an ingenious arrangement of Mussorgsky's masterpiece... and a flawless performance of Ravel?s luscious A minor Piano Trio by the group that to my mind has now succeeded the Beaux Arts Trio as the outstanding chamber music ensemble of its kind." Trio Solisti has earned a national reputation for its passionate, committed, and adventurous performances marked by exquisite individuality of expression and seamless ensemble playing. The Trio's cutting edge verve and mastery across a wide spectrum of styles has garnered superlatives not often encountered in the piano trio genre.
Trio Solisti has made critically acclaimed debuts in New York City at Lincoln Center on the Great Performers Series and at Town Hall on the Peoples' Symphony Concert series, as well as at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and at the Wolf Trap Center for the Performing Arts in Vienna, Virginia.

ABOUT CARAMOOR
Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts is the legacy of Walter and Lucie Rosen, who built the great house and filled it with their treasures. Walter Rosen was the master planner of the Caramoor estate, bringing to reality his dream of building a country home to showcase his decorative arts collection and to entertain friends from around the world. The Rosens' musical evenings were the seeds of the International Music Festival of today. Realizing the pleasure their friends took in Caramoor - the house with its art collection, the gardens, and the musical programs on summer evenings - the Rosens gave it to the public as a center for music and the arts.
