2010 OPENING NIGHT GALA June 26
The Caramoor International Music Festival launched its summer season with a gala evening in a "garden of great music." The 65th annual summer festival opened Saturday, June 26 in the Venetian Theater in Katonah, NY with pianist Mitsuko Uchida,who conducted the Orchestra of St. Luke's from the piano during Mozart’s last piano concerto K. 595. Michael Barrett started the evening conducting Mozart’s Symphonies No. 25 and 34. After the concert, the Gala attendees danced the night way to the country's top timba band, Tiempo Libre. The Opening Night Gala honorees were Tony and Judy Evnin and the event was co-chaired by Susan W. Freund, Gerry H. Hodes, and Sandra S. Joys. Gala attendees helped raise over $630,000 to support and sustain Caramoor's artist endeavors and to keep Caramoor a vital and beautiful place to be enjoyed by the broadest audience possible.
