October 28, 2010 FRANK HUANG IS NEW CONCERTMASTER OF THE HOUSTON SYMPHONY Frank Huang, Caramoor's 2001/2002 Maximilian E. & Marion O. Hoffman Rising Star, has joined the Houston Symphony as their new Concertmaster. Mr. Huang debuted with the orchestra on Opening Night, September 11, 2010, performing Mozart’s Sinfonia concertante. First Prize winner of the 2003 Walter W. Naumburg International Violin Competition and the 2000 Hannover International Violin Competition, Mr. Huang has established a major career as a violin virtuoso. At the age of eleven he performed with the Houston Symphony in a nationally broadcast concert, and has since performed with orchestras throughout the world. After participating in Caramoor’s Rising Stars program, he returned to Caramoor in 2004 and 2006 for performances with the Caramoor Virtuosi, and in 2008 for a recital during the International Music Festival. YING QUARTET WELCOMES AYANO NINOMIYA AS FIRST VIOLINIST Ayano Ninomiya, Caramoor’s 1999/2000 Maximilian E. & Marion O. Hoffman Rising Star, is joining the Ying Quartet as the Grammy® Award-winning ensemble’s first violinist. She will also be appointed to the faculty of the Eastman School of Music, where the ensemble is the string quartet-in-residence. Ms. Ninomiya was the Second Prize winner of the 2003 Walter W. Naumburg International Violin Competition. In addition to participating in the Rising Stars program, Ayano Ninomiya has returned to Caramoor numerous times for performances with the Caramoor Virtuosi and, most recently, for a recital during the International Music Festival in July of 2009.
