2009 OPENING NIGHT GALA
The Caramoor International Music Festival launched its summer season with a gala evening in a "garden of great music." The 64th annual summer festival opened Saturday, June 27 in the Venetian Theater in Katonah, NY with Metropolitan Opera Star, Susan Graham, and David Robertson leading the Orchestra of St. Luke's with Ilya Poletaev on piano playing works by Rossini, Mozart and Beethoven's Fifth. After the concert and serenading encores by Ms. Graham, the Gala attendees danced the night way to the country's top timba band, Tiempo Libre.
The Opening Night Gala honorees were Sarah & Howard Solomon and the event was co-chaired by Effie & Robert Fribourg and Mr. & Mrs. Donald Kendall, Sr. Gala attendees helped raise over $500,000 to support and sustain Caramoor's artist endeavors and to keep Caramoor a vital and beautiful place to be enjoyed by the broadest audience possible.

Fall Festival Gala
New York Philharmonic Caramoor Debut
Friday, October 2, 2009
Caramoor celebrated its first ever Fall Festival with a stellar Gala event on Friday, October 2. Attendees enjoyed an abundance of pre-concert hors d'oeuvres prior to taking their seats to witness the debut of the New York Philharmonic at Caramoor. Philharmonic's new Music Director, Alan Gilbert, took the helm in Beethoven's celebrated Seventh Symphony. Emanuel Ax joined Maestro Gilbert and the Philharmonic on the stage for the Fourth Piano Concerto. After the concert, guests enjoyed a fall-inspired dinner prepared by Great Performances and danced the night away with the artists.
Caramoor honored the William Petschek Family who were instrumental in making this night possible. Gala co-chairs Patricia and Edward Falkenberg and the 250 guests helped raise over $275,000 to help Caramoor continue enriching the lives of its audiences through innovative and diverse musical performances of the highest quality.

Bel Canto Opera Luncheon

Opera lovers enjoyed a beautiful afternoon of arias and duets at Caramoor's
fifth annual Bel Canto Opera Luncheon.
Event Co-chairs Judy Bauer and Eva Cohn, along with 120 attendees, helped raise over $45,000 for the Bel Canto at Caramoor programs. Proceeds from this event help enrich opera programming and the training, mentoring, and performance opportunities for young vocal artists.
