DESIGN A DAY Working with Caramoor's Education Director, teachers are invited to create a customized day of learning through the arts related to specific topics.
"Thanks again for a great day. Can't wait until next year!" - Charles Morales Thomason, Teacher |
PAST WORKSHOPS:
- Romantic Highlights: High school seniors complemented their study of the Romantic period with a day that included dressing up in period costumes; a tour of the art collection in the Rosen House; music of Romantic composers played by pianist Andrew Armstrong; and writing exercises inspired by Romantic poets, fresh flowers and herbs.
- Chinese Culture: Sixth graders were treated to a day that included Chinese art, a tea ceremony, and music played on original Chinese instruments.
- Really Renaissance: Pre-schoolers learned about the Renaissance through costumes, music and art.
- Basically Baroque: A day of Baroque music and art was designed for fifth and sixth graders.
BEFORE THE VISIT: Teachers may receive materials that augment the day's events with suggested classroom activities, including laminated reproductions of art from Caramoor's collection.
