This spring, we'll be celebrating the 200th birthday of the ever-young Felix Mendelssohn in three concerts offering a wide range of his chamber music. Mendelssohn is largely responsible for the renewed interest in J.S. Bach's works in nineteenth-century Europe; an interest that continues to the present day. But with Mendelssohn's great respect of the older master came his ground-breaking championing of the Romantic currents of the new century. His music, in the proper context, sounds as fresh and new as ever. I know these concerts will give us all a great deal of satisfaction. I can't wait to hear them, and I hope you will join us often. - Michael Barrett
