Hot. Cool. Spontaneous. Raw.

Jazz found its home at Caramoor over two decades ago, beginning in 1988 with performances by the great Ray Brown and later, by the Count Basie and Duke Ellington bands. In recent years our Jazz programing has expanded to include a Latin Jazz series, Sonidos Latinos, a platform for emerging stars such as Cécile McLorin Salvant, and Jon Batiste and Stay Human to hone their craft, a much-celebrated annual Jazz Festival, and, most recently, an ongoing collaboration with Jazz at Lincoln Center.

Jazz at Caramoor is descendants of New Orleans’ music royalty. It’s powerhouse orchestras and bluesy troupes. It’s Chick Corea, Bill Frisell, Christian McBride, and McCoy Tyner. It’s MacArthur Genius Vijay Iyer, raucous second lines weaving their way through our laid-back 90-acre campus, and prodigal pre-teens exploring musical legacies well beyond their years.
